What happens when we interfere with Natural Selection? What happens when we preserve the "injurious variations" alluded to by Darwin? I was about to add a disclaimer to the effect that I'm not a scientist - but I am. Therefore, what I have to say must be considered an embryonic hypothesis, totally untested. It is the logical progression of an inquisitive mind seeing the forces of entropy succeeding in the pursuit of chaos. It is, in other words, an attempt on my part to explain the inexplicable, to understand the unfathomable, to make sense of nonsense.
I'm about to embark on a journey into enemy territory, the stronghold of the BHL's....
Stupid People
There are more stupid people now that I can ever remember. Where did they come from? It is my untested hypothesis that we are creating a new breed of human being, a breed which lacks intelligence, common sense, good judgment, respect for others and common decency. We are creating this injurious variation of homo sapien by protecting, defending, and exalting common stupidity. If you read below, you'll get an idea of some of the stupid people I've encountered lately. What, you ask, is my definition of "stupid"? I'm using "stupid" as a blanket category which includes, but is not limited to, the following:
People with little or no common sense - they speak before they think, act before they reason, look after they leap only to find a gaping chasm beneath their feet where they imagined terra firma would be, argue proven facts, tell bold-faced lies and expect intelligent people to believe them, have extramarital sex and try to say it wasn't really adultery because it was only oral sex
People who are cheerfully dependent on the welfare system (as opposed to those who are diligently working to upgrade their education and/or skills so they can escape the welfare system)
People who let novice bike-riding children practice on heavily traveled streets or roads where the speed limit is 55+mph
People who don't know enough not to put a hot cup of coffee between their thighs (thighs and cupholders are not synonymous) and then expect the company who made the coffee to pay them for being stupid enough to get burned
People who haven't figured out what causes illegitimate children to be born
People who haven't figured out that if you're struggling to support your children, or you're dependent on the welfare system, it's not a good idea to have more children
People who expect those of us who work hard, pay taxes and purchase insurance to work even harder and pay more taxes and higher premiums to subsidize stupidity
People who perpetrate the myth that inside every bad person is a good person waiting to be found, or that for every violent or anti-social action there is some underlying victimization that will serve as the excuse which pardons all criminal behavior. (Those of us who grew up in less-than-perfect families and somehow managed to stay on the right side of the law, in spite of alcoholic or abusive or neglectful parents or financial and physical hardship, can tell you that excuses are holographic flowers along the path to self-destruction - they look nice but have no substance)
People who expect us to believe that buckling under to nuclear blackmail and granting MFN (does MFN really mean which countries get the most political favors from politicians?) status to countries that don't meet MFN requirements (but that do make exorbitant campaign contributions to corrupt politicians and their political parties) is somehow in the best interest of this nation
People who believe everything they see on the evening news or read in the local newspaper, even when common sense (if they had any) would tell them there was more there than meets the eye
People who believe anything that the Lyin' King has to say - if he says it's a good thing, I know it's another nail in the coffin of freedom
People who see psychotic, violent, and dangerous human beings of any age as "victims" and keep them mainstreamed until such time as they terrorize their families, their schools, or their workplaces - and then expect to blame inanimate objects for the criminal acts
People who think that it's the job of law enforcement to protect you from criminals and crime. These are the same people who think self-defense is not an inalienable right - it's the job of law enforcement to enforce laws, which generally means arresting someone after the commission of a crime or sticking a parking ticket under your wiper blade.
People who believe that disarming law-abiding private citizens in any way makes this a safer, more secure world to live in - read Kleck for the correlation between CCW issuance and decrease in violent crime
People who believe that it's okay to disarm "us" (the commoners) while retaining their private weapons to protect their vastly more important existence (et tu DF?) - this is elitism and characteristic of those who suffer from stupidis extremis
People who are willing to sacrifice liberty for ever-elusive safety or security
People who turn up the volume on their amp as though it might improve their inept guitar playing - this is especially horrifying early on Sunday morning
People who remove the power to control and discipline from public school systems to make sure that their innocent little darlings aren't abused, and then complain bitterly about the lack of control and discipline in the public school system and demand that the government "fix it"
People who think we need to lower standards in order to spare the feelings of those who, through lack of motivation, ambition, hard work, or plain lack of innate ability, are not able to perform to the same standards as those who are motivated, ambitious, work hard and are innately talented.
People who think we need special laws to make sure no one gets picked on or called names or is in any way shunned by their fellow citizens - there is no law that will make malicious bullies become anything besides malicious bullies. Equal protection is already afforded under the Constitution and is sufficient to protect all citizens. LI>
People who think that the government can "fix it" - has anyone been paying attention to government projected systems failure rates for Y2K [COVID vaccines, Afghan withdrawal]?
People who think that running a country by Executive Order is somehow better because it bypasses all that tiresome debating and arguing and having to take taking into account the will of the people
People who think that public servant and politician are in any way interchangeable terms
People who think elected representatives usually vote according to the stated wishes of their constituency
People who want and expect the government to "take care of it" - this is how we ended up with so many stupid people in the first place
People who don't bother to keep any reserve food or other supplies in case of disaster because they expect the government to take care of them in the event of a disaster
People who think that talking about what to do is a viable substitute for doing it
We are preserving the injurious variations. Criminals belong behind bars; repeat offenders belong behind bars forever (or permanently removed by execution). People who get injured due to lack of common sense should not be rewarded for being stupid. People who set themselves up to be role models and examples of this nation's "best" should be expected to conform to higher standards - or they should be removed from office. Politicians who have accepted campaign donations from foreign countries and subsequently granted special favors, especially the transmittal of advanced technology, to those same countries should be tried for treason and executed if convicted. Violent adults and children should be removed from society - permanently if necessary to protect other citizens. People who are dependent on the welfare system should refrain from having additional children as a condition of their continued support.
What would happen to all these disenfranchised people: the politicians who are unemployed and discredited due to their own stupidity; the people with self-inflicted injuries who incur major medical expenses due to their own stupidity; the criminals who languish in prison forever and ever due to their own stupidity; violent anti-social people who can't be trusted to live in "normal" society; people who aren't admitted to Ivy League schools because their academic performance isn't up to par; people whose children are maimed or die under the wheels of some motorist due to their parents' stupidity; people who have no means of support and can't receive welfare benefits because they insist on having more children for the taxpayers to support; people who are without food or shelter after a disaster occurs simply because they had no reserves to fall back on due to their own stupidity; people who find themselves enslaved because they valued temporary security more than freedom?

I believe in judging each person as an individual - and I retain my inalienable right not to like, respect or associate with people whom I have judged to be unsuitable company. For those who wonder what will happen to all the stupid people, the answer is simple. They will either get smarter, or they will die off, as injurious variations are meant to do. Those that have been selected by nature for extinction should not be artificially propagated by well-meaning do-gooders.
They will, in other words, sink or swim.
